Who is this qualification for?

This qualification is for individuals who are employed in the domestic heating industry learners employed on a Summit-Skills apprenticeship framework.

What does it cover?

This qualification covers a wide range of subjects required by someone working in the domestic heating industry including organization of resources domestic hot water system installation commissioning servicing and maintenance domestic cold water system installation, commissioning, servicing and maintenance domestic central heating system installation, commissioning servicing and maintenance electrical work for plumbing and heating. Also this qualification covers optional environmental systems including:

  • solar thermal
  • heat pumps
  • water recycling.
  • What is this qualification?

    This qualification is a National Vocational Qualification (NVQ). It involves the skills and knowledge needed to do the job, ability to organize work and identify and prevent problems. The achievement of an NVQ will encourage an employee to value their contribution to the workplace, and it will develop their skills and potential. This qualification requires occupational evidence.

    How is the qualification delivered?

    This qualification is Centre and work based and will combine classroom, workshop sessions and the development of a portfolio consisting of work based evidence.

    How is the qualification assessed?

    This qualification is assessed by:

    • on-screen exams
    • simulated practical assessments
    • performance in the workplace.
